Become a Volunteer

With no paid employees, directors or board members, PA PETS is supported 100% by our Volunteers. In fact, volunteers are the backbone of our operations.

Various Volunteer Opportunities include:

  • providing coverage in our PA PETS Thrift Store,
  • assisting with TNR transports and loaning live (box) traps to approved TNR Clients,
  • helping at our community outreach and fundraising events,  
  • managing our Facebook and Instagram pages.

Your contributions make a direct impact on the success of PA PETS Programs!


Volunteer Requirements To ensure a safe and productive environment for everyone, we ask that our volunteers:

●   Are at least 18 years of age.

●   Have a reliable mode of transportation.

●   Can commit to at least four hours of service per month.

We are always looking for volunteers

 

–    To help us manage our PA PETS Facebook and Instagram pages and keep them updated weekly,

 

–    To help us prepare for and celebrate our 4 PA PETS Annual Fund-raising events, including:

o Our Raise the Region On-line Fundraising campaign (Mid-March)

o Our PA PETS Yard Sale (Mid to late May)

o Our PA PETS Bingo Event (Mid-September)

o Our PA PETS TNR Program Dinner/Auction (Early November)

–    Volunteers are needed throughout the year to contact local businesses and other organizations and individuals for donated goods, services, gift cards, baskets, for our annual events, to sell tickets to the events, to prepare food for sale at the Annual Bingo Event, and to set up and clean up at each event.

 

 

–    To provide ongoing (hands-on) support for our PA PETS TNR Program

o Storing, distributing and tracking our TNR Program’s loaner traps, and teaching new TNR clients how to trap and transport cats safely,

o Providing barn or warehouse locations (committing to provide shelter, daily feeding and water) for outside, feral cats that have been spayed/neutered and vaccinated and must be moved from unsafe locations.

o Occasionally transporting elderly or disabled TNR Clients that are unable to lift heavy traps, or to drive to/from the veterinary clinics,

o Occasionally providing foster care when no other foster resources are available for recuperating TNR’d cats,

o Donating (or collecting donated) items to support our TNR Clients (e.g. emergency cat food, working (live) box traps, large dog crates, food and water bowls and bedding (for recuperating or sick cats under medical treatment).

 

–    To provide coverage at our PA PETS Thrift Store

o Covering various shifts during store hours (Tuesdays through Saturdays), including greeting and assisting customers, handling sales, providing information and applications to potential PA PETS Clients interested in either PA PETS Spay/Neuter program.

H2: Upcoming PA PETS FUNDRAISING Events

Save these dates and stay connected with our community. View our calendar below for upcoming fundraisers, volunteer training sessions, and local adoption events. (NOTE: No need for an actual calendar, given there are only 4 planned fund-raising events each year)

RAISE THE REGION ONLINE FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN – The 30-hour online fund-raising campaign for nonprofit organizations in North Central Pennsylvania. Dates: March 11 – March 12, 2026. 

 

PA PETS YARD SALE – May 28th, 29th, and 30th, 2026. Hours: 8am-4pm on all three days.  

YARD SALE LOCATION: Martha’s Pet Supply (229 Montour Blvd (Hwy 11 between Bloomsburg and Danville). Donated items for the yard sale can be dropped off at Martha’s Pet Supply starting March 16, 2026. No electronics, tires, mattresses or clothing. Volunteers are also needed for event set up and clean up. Call Shannon at 570-784-6200 for more details regarding acceptable donations, store hours, etc.

 

PA PETS ANNUAL BINGO EVENT – Sunday afternoon, September 13, 2026 – At the Buckhorn Fire Company (19 Firehall Rd, Bloomsburg – adjacent to the Buckhorn Mall) – Purchase your tickets at the PA PETS THRIFT STORE (203 E. 5th Street, Bloomsburg) or at Martha’s Pet Supply (229 Montour Blvd) – or on this website. Ticket Sales dates to be announced. Volunteers are needed to contact local businesses, organizations and individuals for items for auction and baskets, to prepare food items for sale during the games, and for event set up / clean up.  

 

PA PETS TNR PROGRAM DINNER / AUCTION – Friday evening, November 6, 2026 – At The Barn at Boone’s Dam (737 W. Fort McClure Blvd, Bloomsburg – adjacent to the Bloomsburg Fair Grounds) – Purchase your tickets at the PA PETS THRIFT STORE (203 E. 5th Street, Bloomsburg) or at Martha’s Pet Supply (229 Montour Blvd) – or on this website. Ticket sales dates to be announced. Volunteers are needed to contact local businesses, organizations and individuals for items for auction and baskets, and for event set up / clean up.

 

(NOTE 1: Install a PURCHASE TICKETS Button with PayPal, Venmo, and Zelle capabilities to purchase tickets for the 2 upcoming events (Bingo and Dinner/Auction). The Fund-Raising Events Mgr will need to be alerted to track and document sales and to distribute tickets.
